What is wax carving?

Wax carving and casting is a 6,000 year old tradition, allowing you to both create with your hands and utilize gifts from mother nature, to put something into the world that has the opportunity to last for generations to come. It is our absolute joy to have an opportunity to share with our community an art form that we find so sacred.

It is the act of carving your piece of jewelry out of wax, followed by melting down metal and pouring it into the space where the wax once held…creating a perfect replica of your piece.

In our workshops, you do the carving and we do the metal casting in post production services. The result and product is a piece of fine jewelry that has been made with your own touch.

Add on information

We have ethically sourced stones and solid 14ky gold available as an add on during our workshops.

Our gold price is based on the day of price for gold. It begins at $450 for a 2mm Root Stacker band and goes up from there, based on the final weight of your carved ring. Pricing for our new 8mm wide bands in 14k gold will be individually discussed and priced accordingly. A lot of this can be due to stones being added to the rings, which require more metal. These solid gold pieces turn into very luxe piece objects that are meant to last through generations. We will do our best to guide you to a design that fits into your budget during your time with us.

We welcome you to bring forth your dream design. For pieces that go above and beyond our typical workshops rings and break into special custom work - we require a $100 additional charge for the work that will go into the piece during post production services.

Please email us with any questions you may have at hello@seelyedesigns.com

Each month, you will see a rotation of our three workshops offered at the studio.

  1. Ring carving - our true love, staple. carving a ring designed by you.

Our mission is to offer a link between the designer and consumer. Throughout our time together we will guide you through creating a ring you will cherish for years to come. With each event, new designs and memories are created. Although the Root Stackers are ever evolving, we hope they offer a daily reminder when worn that you are safe to create, connect, and simply be, as we go forth on our journey.

2. Signet Bars - choose from 6 signet rings, hand carved and designed by the Seelye team. In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to use these signets as your “blank canvas” to personalize the piece by adding fingerprints, ethically sourced stone and engraving.

3. Chain Making - arrange a forever chain with our selected on hand carved charms, links, stones, clasps and chains. We view this as a modern day charm necklace, with the opportunity to even come back to the studio to continue adding to your piece.
